Warm-up
The instructor eases you in with familiar territory — introductions, where you're from, why you're learning Lebanese. The goal is to get you talking, not to catch you out.
The conversation
Your instructor moves into level-calibrated topics — the kind the course prepared you for. The conversation follows naturally from your answers, so nothing feels out of nowhere.
Wrap-up
The instructor may revisit one or two moments to clarify — this is your chance to show a little more if you felt you didn't land something cleanly the first time.
How you're evaluated: Your instructor listens for how well you communicate — vocabulary range, grammatical accuracy, pronunciation, and how fluidly you hold the conversation. Not perfection. How well you actually function in Lebanese at your level.
What the conversation covers
at each level.
The assessment is calibrated to the level you're testing for. Here's roughly what you'll be asked to do.
Basic interaction and survival Lebanese
Greetings, introductions, numbers, colours, telling the time, describing your immediate environment.
Conversations about real life and past events
Daily life, travel, food, past events, future plans, opinions, social situations — the full A2 curriculum in spoken form.

- Earned by scoring 70% or higher on the 30-question Level Assessment

- Does not include a CEFR-referenced level indicator
- Earned through a live 10–15 minute oral proficiency assessment
- States your demonstrated CEFR-referenced level (A1, A2, B1…)
- Reflects actual spoken proficiency, not just course completion
An assessment should tell you the truth — not stress you out.
This isn't a pass/fail trap. Your instructor is listening for where you genuinely are, not trying to catch you out. The conversation is designed to let you show what you actually know. Whatever level you demonstrate, that's the level on your certificate — and an honest result is the whole point.
A few quick questions.
Do I need to finish the course level before booking?
Yes — the assessment is calibrated to the course material, so it works best once you've completed the level you're being assessed at. If you haven't yet, finish the lessons first and then come back.
What happens if I don't pass?
You're certified at the level you actually demonstrate. If you fall short of the level you tested for, your certificate reflects where you genuinely are — which is still honest, useful information. You're welcome to keep practicing and book again when you're ready.
How is this different from the 1:1 practice sessions?
The 1:1 practice sessions are open-ended conversation practice with a professional instructor — no evaluation, no certificate, just real speaking time. This assessment has a specific purpose: evaluating your current level and issuing a Speaking Lebanese Proficiency Certificate. They serve different things and work well together.
Do I need the Zoom app?
No — Zoom runs directly in your browser. A working camera and microphone are all you need.
Is this required to continue to the next level?
No — it's fully optional. You can move through the course levels without it. This assessment is for anyone who wants a Speaking Lebanese Proficiency Certificate that indicates their demonstrated CEFR-referenced level.
Can I take the assessment if I haven't completed the Speaking Lebanese course?
The assessment is designed for Speaking Lebanese learners and calibrated to the course curriculum. If you have significant prior exposure to Lebanese Arabic and want to test at a specific level, take the free placement quiz first — that'll tell you where you stand before booking.
